Process Description
MicroUnit Systems
The micro unit systems consisted of 17 pilot plant reactors
controlled through PLC’s via a Labview DSCM interface. Each
system utilized similar equipment setup in varying
configurations, because of this a common list of tags was one of
the required design objectives.
Process Description unit 437
Up to four different gasses are to be reacted with one or two of
a large number of liquid hydro- carbons in a reactor, under
pressure and heat. The gasses and liquids are controlled by an
operator using the interface shown in image 1. The gasses are
injected through a series of flow control valves, and the
liquids through a series of ISCO pumps. The system also required
the ability to purge all lines with Nitrogen through
another series of flow control valves. The system required the
use of the Labview DSC module which communicated with the System
hardware via an SCXI interface. Upon Completion of a reaction a
sample would be injected into a GC and tested for composition.
Results
The system has been completed and tested. It is capable of
operating with either of two reactor systems. The first of which
is described above, the second is a less complicated system
utilizing a syringe pump instead of the four large ISCO pumps.
